green tea cupcakes


I've been thinking a lot about making green tea cupcakes after my green tea cookies. I finally got around to making them since I had two BBq's and one housewarming this weekend. This was just one of three types of cakes I made.

  • 1 1/2 cups cake flour 
  • 1 cup of sugar 
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder 
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 
  • 1 teaspoon of matcha 
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened 
  • 2 eggs 
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk 
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract white chocolate frosting, see above
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake pans with paper liners. Mix butter with sugar. Add eggs, milk and vanilla to mixture. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and matcha.
  2. Mix wet mixture with dry mixture.
  3. Divide batter evenly among liners, filling about 2/3 full. Bake until cake tester comes out clean. 15 to 17 minutes.
  4. Once the cupcakes have cooled, decorate with frosting in a pastry bag.
